A Visit From My Son

Today is the last day of my sons visit before he heads back to his dads and then flies off to New Zealand.
Why didn't anyone warn me that if you had a kid, they grow up, move away and leave a giant hole in your heart?
For me is especially hard because my son is not only a great kid, (well, a really nice young man), but he also has the same gypsy spirit in him that I had when I was young and is an adventurer, so that means you just never know where he's headed.
In this case, it's New Zealand. At least he's not running off to some dangerous third world country or some where with wild animals. Yea.
When I think of New Zealand I see hobbits, kiwi, and those two funny blokes from "Flight of the Conchords", and lots of mountains.
Still, I'm a mom and I am not good at my only child running off god knows where.
Maybe someday I'll be cool with this, maybe never.
But for today, he's here visiting me in L.A., it's a sunny day and we are catching up on all the talks we haven't had in a while, talking about our plans and dreams and he's raring to go on this fancy bike trip.
Nice to have him around!
Gotta appreciate the moments we have with our children while we have them. I guess I'm one of the lucky ones. We have always had a good relationship and I am happy to say if there is anything I'm proud of in my life, It's having a son like him.
Looking forward to reading his blog covering his grand adventure!
