The news of the recent earthquake in New Zealand is a sad tragedy. It is especially scary when your super adventurous son is there, cycling the west coast and you have no idea what his status is.
In an effort to find out, I contacted a few of the hostels in the area that I knew he could be staying in.
I must say, the people of New Zealand are some good folks. Not only did I get a response from the
hostel where he stayed, reassuring me he should be fine, I even got a response from where he did not
stay,by very reassuring, nice people.
Then I finally heard from him. As a mom, I can't even begin to tell people what a waterfall of relief washes
over you when your child (grown child) calls home from a place where a natural disaster occurred, to say,
"hey, I'm o.k.!"
I'm glad beyond words!
I think I'll go and celebrate!
